Obsidian

Starting over sucks.
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don't kill him first, that is.

My Review

Just imagine, you move to a new place with your family, meet a boy, and discover he's a alien. Yes an alien, turns out Katy's new neighbor family is not even from this universe, let alone being from this planet. Daemon and his sister Dee have to hide who they are from the rest of the world, but when Katy comes face to face with a truck which would crush her, Daemon has to freeze time to protect her, which leads to Katy figuring out who they truly are and has to be careful so that non of the others get to know that she knows about them. But how will she be able to protect herself from the ones out to get Daemon with a huge trace on her.

We don't see many alien based books out in the market these days so this one was something new. I enjoyed the small romance scenes between Daemon and Katy, it added a little twist to the action scenes which felt so realistic. I did feel that some parts of the book were pulled a little, which caused me to get bored in some of the scenes, other then that I found the book to be nicely detailed and well constructed. There was a little bit of everything in this book, romance, action, mystery, jealousy, school life, etc.

I had also lent this book to one of my friends and she got so hooked on it, she sat down to read and was awake till late night finishing the book. Overall this was an enjoyable book, and I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series to see what happens between Daemon and Katy.
